First Place Kids; Family Support Activities
Housed within SVDP’s First Place Family Center, First Place Kids provides programming in support of families and children who are actively experiencing homelessness.
Volunteers play a crucial role in providing services to vulnerable members in our community. First Place Kids is striving to maintain program operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of the families we serve are being hard hit, as they navigate the pandemic while homeless and many other social services are being cut.
First Place Kids is diligent about operating in as safe a manner as possible; we ask that volunteers have minimal exposure outside of their homes and our program, all staff/volunteers and children over age 5 wear face masks onsite, we thoroughly sanitize our space multiple times a day and we keep group size small.
Currently, First Place Kids is seeking volunteers to assist with Family Support Activities for families who are activiely unhoused. Family Support Activities are various enrichment activities in support of family bonding. These activities could be anything from arts & crafts, music making sessions, outdoor activities, etc. Family Support Activities can either a one-time event or on an ongoing basis. Please contact us to brainstorm possibilities!
