Tree and Shrub Planting at Jasper Pond
On Thursday, September 25th from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm the City of Springfield and Willamalane will be hosting a tree and shrub planting at Jasper Pond and Slough. We will be planting approximately 400 native plants in an area along the waterway where invasive vegetation has been removed. Willamalane has a wildlife viewing platform recently installed at this site, and you will be helping with ongoing habitat enhancement efforts. This planting will also help protect native northwestern pond turtles, which use this site for nesting. We will be providing tools and instruction and pizza for lunch.
