Lead Nature Walks for Kids in Alton Baker Park!
Looking for a good reason to spend time outdoors? Enjoy working with kids? Want to make a difference in your community? Then YOU should be a volunteer Nearby Nature guide in Alton Baker Park!
Every spring and fall, Nearby Nature trains volunteers to take small groups of K-5th graders on interactive nature walks in Alton Baker Park. Using hands-on science, games, and storytelling, guides help kids connect with nature nearby.
Walks are held on weekday mornings from mid April through mid-June and late September through mid-November. No experience is necessary. Free training is provided in April and September and covers everything from local natural history to the art of teaching children.
To learn more about leading nature walks as well as other Nearby Nature volunteer opportunities this fall, call 541-687-9699, email info@nearbynature.org, or come to our Spring Volunteer Info Session on Tuesday, September 10th, 6:30-8 pm at the Eugene Public Library (Tykeson Room). See also https://www.nearbynature.org/volunteer/school-nature-walk-guides/. Note: If you have missed this meeting, email us -- you can still get involved if training is still happening! Training happens the second two weeks in September.
