Hays Tree Garden Work Party in Alton Baker Park
Join Nearby Nature for this year's Day of Caring on Thursday, September 26 and help enhance the area around Hays Tree Garden in Alton Baker Park. This beautiful area sits adjacent to the Cuthbert Amphitheater and showcases trees noted for brilliant spring bloom or fall foliage, each donated in honor of loved ones as a living legacy.
From 9 am to 12 pm on Sep. 26, volunteers will weed and re-mulch the garden beds in and around the tree garden and the footbridge over the Canoe Canal. There may also be an opportunity to do some invasive species removal along the shores of the canal itself.
Volunteers should meet on the gravel path between Hays Tree Garden and the Cuthbert, just across the footbridge from the Eugene Science Center parking lot. (Look for Nearby Nature's signs and the registration table.) Nearby Nature will provide gloves, tools, and small snacks. Volunteers should register in advance, bring a water bottle, and dress for the weather in clothes they don’t mind getting dirty.
Questions can be directed to the project organizer Shaun Daniel at 541-687-9699 or parkhost@nearbynature.org.
