HIV Alliance needs volunteers this summer!
HIV Alliance's mission is to support individuals living with HIV and prevent new infections. We run a Needle Exchange program whereby we exchange used, potentially contaminated syringes for new ones thereby helping to prevent the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C. In Lane County alone we safely destroy over 600,000 used syringes each year. Through our Needle Exchange program we also save lives by distributing Naloxone, the antidote to an opioid overdose, and distribute Fentanyl testing strips which can detect the presence of deadly Fentanyl in street drugs. We don't promote or condone illicit drug use - we meet people where they are at to help them reduce their risks and we provide them with information on community resources including treatment options.
We urgently need Needle Exchange volunteers this summer! We operate Needle Exchange out in the community 3 nights per week and in our office 2 days per week.
We have many other volunteer opportunites and needs, such as data entry and helping with support dinners for our clients living with HIV and Hepatitis C.
Please go to our website at www.hivalliance.org and click on the Volunteer tab to learn more and fill out a volunteer application.
We hope to hear from you, and please help spread the word to anyone you know who might be interested in helping!
