A museum and more in the heart of Eugene. Are you interested in history, architecture, and community service? Help us provide educational programs, lead tours, or assist with special events at Eugene's only Victorian House Museum.
The Shelton McMurphey Johnson House has been a landmark in Eugene for more than a century. Although many changes have been made over the years, the House - with its carved and turned exterior woodwork, polygonal tower, ornate open porches, and large bay windows - remains Eugene’s most elaborate example of late-Victorian Queen Anne Revival style architecture.
Our docents guide visitors through the museum, giving them a personal look into the lives of the families that lived and loved this beautiful home at the heart of Eugene. We are especially looking for bilingual individuals who can provide tours in Spanish at least once a month.
Volunteers are also invited to assist with walking tours through the Skinner's Butte neighborhood, welcome school children on house tours, or join the collections committee. Other opportunities exist for the right people!
Volunteers generally work 1 shift per week, Tuesday-Friday 10am-1pm, Saturday-Sunday, 1pm-4pm at the museum.
