BRING Days of Caring BRING 2025! 4446 Franklin Blvd Eugene OR, United States 97403 9/25/2025 10:00 AM -1:00 PM BRING is one of the nation’s oldest non-profit recyclers. Since 1971, we have encouraged people to rethink what they use and what they throw away. We help our community keep useful items out of the landfill, find ways to use less stuff, reuse as many things as possible, and recycle the rest. Through our retail outlet and education programs, we fulfill our mission to provide vision, leadership, and tools for living well on the planet we share.

Day of Caring Project: Help make BRING's Planet Improvement Center patio re-fabulous! BRING does a periodic re-dressing of the patio and walnut tree surround by spreading sand over and into the lovely lattice walkway. Volunteers will take shovels and rakes and smooth out the sand making the lattice more stable and easier for our carts to roll over, and prevents potential for falling. In addition, volunteers will help create unique border around the walnut tree with the use of vintage, decorative cast iron steam heaters! It also enhances our look and makes afterhour events much more fun - and safe! All tools, equipment and safety apparel will be provided - just wear sturdy shoes and clothing to get dirty in!  Refreshments will be provided!

Co-op Family Center  From Sandboxes to Slides – Help Childcare Center Give Playgrounds New Life!  2250 Patterson Street Eugene OR, United States 97405 9/25/2025 8:30 AM -11:30 AM Join us in making a big impact for our children and families! During UWLC's Days of Caring, the Co-op Family Center is asking for community support sprucing up and protecting our outdoor play spaces so they’re safe, beautiful, and ready for year-round fun. Your work will help extend the life of our play structures and keep our playgrounds welcoming for the young children who use them every day.
Tasks Include: Raking leaves in our playgrounds  Weatherizing a wood play structure and ‘crow’s nest’ play structure . Removing an older black border that defines the bike path in our big play yard . Sanding and staining two small tables in the younger play yard . Weatherizing a sandbox, steps and railings and 4 small structures in the younger play yard
Note: When we say weatherizing, we are looking for help cleaning, lightly sanding, and applying a protective sealant or stain to wooden structures so they can better withstand rain, sun, and seasonal changes. This could also include checking for any damage (e.g., loose screws, splinters, or rotting boards) and alerting the Co-op if more repairs are needed. Our students use the play areas every day, so your additional help in keeping the areas in safe conditions will be so  appreciated by students, teachers, and parents! We'll provide necessary materials. What to Bring: Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, closed-toe shoes, and a can-do attitude.

Mckenzie River Trust
Day of Caring with McKenzie River Trust 34000 Seavey Loop Rd Eugene OR, United States 97405 9/25/2026 9:00 AM -12:00 PM McKenzie River Trust works to protect and care for more than 10,000 acres of land for fish, wildlife, water quality, and the people of Western Oregon.
Join us for a Day of Caring at the Willamette Confluence, a 1,300-acre property at the base of Mt. Pisgah, where the Coast Fork and Middle Fork of the Willamette River meet. The property features large-scale restoration projects and extensive habitats that are increasingly endangered in the Willamette Valley, providing a sanctuary for fish and wildlife in our urban backyard. The Willamette Confluence is a place where nature and community intersect through volunteer land stewardship, limited mobility tours, educational nature walks, environmental education partnerships, and other guided access opportunities.
Spend the morning working around beautifully restored gravel ponds home to beavers, turtles, birds, and other wildlife. We will focus on invasive blackberry removal and trash pickup to preserve this special habitat and ensure native plantings are free to grow. No experience is required—tools, gloves, and light refreshments will be provided.
The Willamette Confluence is only open to the public during official events. We want to offer some additional time to enjoy this beautiful space. You are welcome to bring a picnic lunch, camera, binoculars, walking shoes, or a camp chair and hang out from 12:00 to 1:00pm if you like!

SMART Reading SMART Reading's Book Bank - Days of Caring Book Cleaning Sessions  225 5th Street Suite 301 Springfield OR, United States 97477 9/25/2025 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM Come volunteer with SMART Reading's Book Bank for Days of Caring 2025! We will be cleaning and restoring gently used children’s books for redistribution in the community. Help us make sure every child in Lane County has access to quality books. During our two and a half hour sessions volunteers will be trained on how to inspect and clean donated books. The cleaning process includes wiping covers, taping torn pages, erasing scribbles, covering inscriptions, coloring in spots, and giving new life to previously loved books. You'll be amazed at how these effective techniques can restore gently used books to like-new condition. Volunteers may need to stoop, stand, or sit. The book cleaning process requires attention to detail (scanning each page of a book for damage) and fine motor skills (pinching/grasping). Tasks include handling used books which may be dusty and dirty. Personal protective equipment is available for volunteers with sensitivities/allergies. This will be an opportunity to connect with others, bask in the joy of children’s literature, and learn about local and statewide early literacy efforts, all while serving the children of Lane County. This event is open to both individuals and groups.  We will be hosting our event inside the Springfield Public Library in the Conference Room, which is located on the left side of the library in the southeast corner. 12
