Participant Support (Seniors and Adults with Disabilities)
The Uhlhorn Day Center provides recreational and social activities for those with cognitive, physical, and mental health disabilities. Uhlhorn Day Center specializes in providing services to adults who are survivors of traumatic/acquired brain injury and those diagnosed with Alzheimer's/Dementia.
In general, volunteers at Uhlhorn Day Center support, supervise, socialize, and engage participants in activities. We are looking for volunteers who can assist with:
- Supervising participants
- Leading and/or assisting staff in group activities, such as Cooking Group, Computer Skills Group, Mindfulness, therapeutic arts, Adaptive Exercise
- Assisting with outings in the community (it is optional for volunteers to drive agency vehicles)
Additionally, we are seeking a volunteer that can fulfill the duty of "lunch monitor" from the hours of 11:30am-1:30pm, Monday through Friday. The lunch monitor would be responsible for supervising and re-directing participants to eating a nutritious meal.
Finally, we are seeking volunteers that could assist with lunch preparation and clean-up.
