Outdoor: Hawthorn & Apple Pome Harvest with Friends of Buford Park & Mt. Pisgah

English Hawthorn and non-native apples are invasive species we are managing in Buford Park by cutting and removing trees. However, the fruit have health and flavor benefits. We have a partnership with Wild Craft Ciderworks who will use these fruit in their cider and donate a portion of the proceeds back to us. It is a wonderful way to help support the stewardship work the Friends do in the park. For hawthorns we will have fruit-laden branches cut down, while for apples we will shake limbs to drop fruit on the ground, and we will need volunteers to then pluck them off into containers. This can be done sitting or standing. We can work outside, or move under cover if it is raining.
