Our mission in action
Several times throughout the year, we work with people and organizations to take action to address a variety of our community's most pressing challenges. Day(s) of Action bring attention and resources to issues in our community that are currently underserved. We are always adding Day(s) of Action as the need arises, but we currently have two signature events:
- BookFest is a community-wide book drive and series of distribution events for K-2nd students in Lane County to choose seven books to take home for the summer and keep forever. Books are distributed in nine schools where many of the kids are at risk for not meeting the third-grade reading benchmark. This past year over 9,000 books were donated.
- Dental Kits are a simple, preventative measure that helps to eliminate the dental health crisis facing our children. Each kit includes toothpaste, a toothbrush, floss, timer and curriculum support for educators and info for parents. By investing in this simple solution, we can empower children with healthy dental hygiene habits.
How You Can Help
The community is invited to participate in Days of Action as volunteers. Be the first to know about opportunities by subscribing to our e-newsletter. Opportunities are also listed on this website.
Day(s) of Action are not supported by donor dollars and rely on sponsorship and generous donations.
